How to use ZOOM
What is Zoom?
Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing service that lets you virtually meet with others – either via video only, audio only, or both, all while conducting live chats – and allows you to record those sessions to view later.
What do I need to Zoom?
The ideal place to start is with your smartphone. But you can also connect via a computer (a bit more complicated), where you need a microphone and speakers (laptops always have these built straight in), or a headset with a microphone.
How to get started?
Take your smartphone/touchscreen and follow the steps below:
1) Download the Zoom app to your phone
On **mobile/tablet** go to the app downloads on your device and find the “Zoom” app there, or click on one of these buttons below (depending on whether you have an Android or Apple device).
2) In the Zoom app, click “Sign Up”
You can go straight to the broadcast via the “Join Meeting” button, but we recommend you create an account on Zoom beforehand. If you already have an account, jump straight to step 11 of this guide.
3) Fill in your date of birth
Zoom will ask for your date of birth, so fill it in and confirm (Confirm).
4) Fill in your email and name
You will need to link your Zoom account to your email. Therefore, enter it and your first and last name (this will then be displayed in Zoom’s posting and online communication). Confirm by clicking “Sign Up”
A message will pop up saying that Zoom has sent you a confirmation email – so close that.
5) Activate your Zoom account in your email
Open your emails and there you will find a message from Zoom. There is a big “Activate Account” button, so click on that.
6) Create your Zoom password
Fill in your Zoom password twice. Remember it well or write it down somewhere. You will need it in the future.
7) Skip inviting friends
Zoom will prompt you to invite friends to use Zoom in the next step, so skip that and click “Skip this step”.
8) Open the Zoom app
You already have your registration and password. You have done this on the Zoom website. Now, either the site directly offers you to open the zoom app, or you can find it and open it from the desktop icons on your mobile phone.
9) Log in to Zoom
Click on Sign In.
10) Enter your login details
Type in the email you used to identify yourself a moment ago and type in your password to remember and confirm.
11) Join the Zoom meeting
Click on the “Join” button and type in your “Meeting ID”, enter your “Password” – the password to access the meeting.
12) You will be waiting in the “Waiting Room”
After logging into Zoom Meeting you will be let into the “Waiting Room”. Do not leave, you will be moved from the room to the live online broadcast of the meeting at the time of the broadcast.
13) Finally! We’re on the air
When you are in the broadcast, when you touch the screen, a control will appear where you can, for example, turn on/off the camera, sound, etc. (if the broadcasting party allows you to do so).
